– 1.) Storage tanks;

– 1.a.) Capacity:
at the present state, the depot has an overall storage capacity of 13,755 cbm divided up over n°10 tanks which each have the following capacities:

Capacity
Tank V1 CBM. 1.070
Tank V2 CBM. 2.115
Tank V3 CBM. 2.115
Tank V4 CBM. 2.115
Tank V5 CBM. 1.070
Tank V6 CBM. 33
Tank V7 CBM. 75
Tank V8 CBM. 2.506
Tank V9 CBM. 2.506
Tank V10 CBM. 150

– 1.b.) Licences:

All the tanks are issued with a permit to stock both class C mineral oils (flashpoint above 65°) and class C petrochemicals. In particular, tanks V1, V2 and V3 can also take class B petrochemicals (flashpoint in excess of 23°) under special temporary permits.

All tanks are licensed to contain fuel oil under the tax warehousing arrangement and in particular, tank V7 is licensed to store Denatured Diesel Oil for fishing boats and Farming.

– 1.c.) Construction features:
All the tanks are made of carbon steel and are vertically cylindrical with a fixed roof, above ground; the inside walls are coated with epoxy resin and epoxy phenolic resin.

All the tanks are:
– equipped with cooling rings;
– equipped with a foam delivery system.
– equipped with a respiration valve on the roof.
– surrounded by a bund wall in reinforced concrete of a height varying between 1.50m and 4.5m so as to avoid any spillages from the storage tanks;
– Inertisation system.
– Electronic system for the measurement of product quantity and density as well as the presence of water.

2) Pipelines for loading/unloading the tankers.

The tanks are linked respectively to:

a jetty for mooring on the easterly pier by three pipelines measuring about 350m long and 6″ in diameter, made in AISI 304 stainless steel and placed in a special underground passage up to the edge of the wharf and equipped with a PIG launcher and receiver (rubber or foam) fed by bundles of nitrogen cylinders brought across during unloading operations.

a berth on the westerly pier with 2 pipelines measuring about 750 m., with a 6″ diameter in stainless steel and partially underground (300 m.) in a special passage in the wharf and partially on the seafloor (450 m.), suitably covered with a cathodic protection device, equipped with a PIG launcher and receiver system (rubber or foam) fed by bundles of nitrogen cylinders brought across during unloading operations.

The connection between the wharf edge/ship is guaranteed by stainless steel, flexible coiled tubing.

3) Features of the mooring piers for tanker unloading operations:

20140627_093235
Eastern Pier
Quay length 250 mt
Maximum draught 28 ft
Licensed to perform unloading operations of class C flammable liquids > than 65°
IMG_5958
Western Pier
Wharf length 450 mt
Maximum draught 28 ft
Licensed to perform unloading operations of class C” and B” flammable liquids from vessels carrying only in transit toxic class A products (flash point inferiore a 23°) and toxic.

I.SE.CO.L.D. S.p.A,.can guarantee an average unloading rate of 500 tons/hour in the case of tankers both on the eastern and the western pier.
Both the piers are licensed to load lighters (small tankers) for bunkering large seagoing vessels in the harbour and for bunkering by tubing for ships located on the eastern or western wharf.
In particular, the Western pier:
has been granted in exclusive use by the Harbour Master’s Office of Castellammare, thus ensuring the reliability of a privileged mooring spot;
giving its location and thanks to a special lighting sytem, it can also offer mooring facilities to tankers at nighttime as well.

4) Loading canopy for tankers

For the purposes of loading the tankers, a canopy has been set up (protected by a fire sprinkler) and equipped with n°5 loading arms which supply it (thanks to n°6 pumps with flow of 100 cbm/h, n°4 tubes with a diameter of 4″ in AISI 304 stainless steel, n°3 of which are provided with volumetric measuring instruments and batch counters of load calibrators from the Metric Office premises whose flow rate is shown on the loading canopy and in the pump room).
The loading canopy is equipped with a nitrogen purging system for the long distance tankers.
By means of the canopy it is possible to load n°3 tankers at the same time – (loading takes place bottom-up).
